The Funny Farm - Jon will be the emcee! - Marcy = Guest

Funny Farm Christmas Show - 9:00

Steele Ave. Extension
Gloversville NY
Price: $12.00

The INCOMPARABLE Mary Dimino will be making a rare appearance in our area. DON'T MISS THIS - SHE'S AWESOME! DON'T MISS THIS SHOW!

What an OUTSTANDING show!

The entire crowd enjoyed this peformance by seasoned veterans LARRY DeFELICE and MARY DIMINO. While their styles were quite different, their results were both DEAD-ON FUNNY. Larry through his imitations and his description of life as a vertically-challenged would-be NBA star, and Mary with her musings on life across the dress-size scale, her bridesmaid horror story, and her offer to give each audience member a car ALA Oprah.

Emcee Jon Hausman proved once again why he is the unlikeable comic, making people laugh AND plot his death at the same time. Even his wife decided "It's just plain time for him to kiss a Chevy grille".

Guest comic Marcy Hausman again made the crowd laugh and wonder why a cute girl like her wound up with Jon (ans.: date-rape drugs).

Make a point to catch Larry and/or Mary at any upcoming performances. See Mary's page at our LINKS section.

Funny Farm Special w/ Jon & Marcy

Funny Farm Local Extravaganza! - 9:00

Steele Ave. Ext.
Gloversville NY
Price: 10.00

Jon and Marcy will be part of a 5-comedian troupe which will provide 2 hours of laughter!

A very fun show, sadly with only a small audience. The table in front kind of "made" this a fun night, as they were LOADED and HAVING A BLAST. Except the teacher sitting in back of the table, who was the designated driver, and was still having fun and laughing although she appeared to be sober. She did not offer to show the comedians her breasts, as one of her table-mates did. My wife refused to let me take the woman up on this, as my wife is old-fashioned and has no idea about "good form" when it comes to stand-up. Most of us were holding out for the teacher anyway, although the would-be exhibitionist was cute. Still, in her altered state it may have been considered a prosecutable crime, even in Gloversville, where many other things are A-OK: bestiality is not a felony there, it's a tradition.

The audience overall liked "women's-based" humor, except for the marine to the left who followed his date's leads closely (good soldier). Marcy was very appreciated, especially her derisive comments about her husband. Jon's comments about Marcy, on the other hand, were challenged, until Marcy shouted from the back that they were true.

One of the front table ladies fell out of her chair. Gracefully, though. Yeah... right.

These shows should get a better audience. The comedians do a surprisisngly good job.

The Funny Farm - Jon will be the emcee! - Marcy = Guest

9:00

Steele Ave. Extension
Gloversville NY
Price: $12.00

Funny Farm website: see our 'LINKS' page. Great food!

Turned out to be a stunningly good show. Hadn't seen our headliner - Mark Matusof (I believe that's ma-TOO-sof - beats me because I messed it up the first time) before, but I was very impressed. Excellent show all around. Feature act was Greg Aidala (A-della - got THAT one right) from the Brew-Ha-Ha comedy shows, and guest acts were Marcy Hausman and "Just Andy". All the comics did a great job and were well-received by the audience, which included Santa, albeit in civilian garb. He was getting a lap dance from a pretty young thing under the guise of asking what SHE wanted for Christmas, although I think he was dreaming about what HE wanted. She was definitely a few inches higher by the time she mentioned the IPod - SHAME on you, Santa!

You should have been at this show - you'd have had a good time - guaranteed.

Jokin' Jonny Moocow - Funny Farm - BOO BASH!

BOO BASH! - 9:00

Steele Ave. Ext.
Gloversville
Price: Steak 'n' show special: $20

JOKIN' JONNY MOOCOW will be your host for this Halloween show! COW-abunga! Come root for the cow so he does not become the dinner special!

Jokin' Jonny Moocow's debut as emcee (headliner was Tom Nemic). Only about 30 people and 0 cows. No sheep, even though it's Gloversville and about 50% of all children born at Gloversville Memorial Hospital are half sheep. On the way to the show, I passed a bunch of people in costumes: many witches, monsters, etc. I also passed three guys who were wearing - I kid you not - white KKK robes and hats. Man, I sure hope those were costumes....

The winning costumes included a lady in ahospital gown with a protruding plastic butt (VERY well thiought-out and clever) and Wonder Woman (great job on this costume).

Funny Farm - JON HAUSMAN host and emcee

9:00

Headliner: Clay Miles

Clay Miles is the hardest working comic I've ever seen. He brings a sweat towel on stage, and it's not for nerves, as he's totally at ease up there. He's up, down, here, there.... I got tired just watching. Time has not caught up to him yet - someday his doctor will suggest (as mine has) that it's time to hang up the sneakers. Or, as mine told me, "Sure - exercise might make you live a few months longer, but why would you want to do that to all of us?"

The Gospel Train at Samuel's Coffee House

Gospel Train music! - 7:00

Alplaus NY
Price: none!

Jon will be providing between-set stand-up comedy for THE GOSPEL TRAIN, a musical duo specializing in vintage American Gospel tunes (see their website on our 'LINKS' page). They start at 7:00-ish.

Gospel Train was great. You just can't hear this music anywhere else, except perhaps on obscure 78's played on a Victrola. I have these as well, and my judgement is that the stuff's much better live and without the scratches.

How was Jon Hausman? Well, he played two sets, short ones. Charlie Paul seemed to enjoy them, Deb Lockrow was hard to read but did not throw the salt shaker so that's a positive review from her, and 50% of the couple sitting up front enjoyed it (the wife laughed a lot; the husband appeared to be a crash test dummy without the marking on the side of his head - although I talked to him later and he seemed to be a good guy - apparently the stand-up was not his cup of tea).

Funny Farm - JON & MARCY BOTH

9:00

Steele Ave. Extension
Gloversville NY United States

Headliner: JJ Boyd

Jon emceed for JJ Boyd's show. Aaron Ward was the feature comedian. This was an intimate (read: SMALL) crowd for no apparent reason, who got to enjoy a 1st-rate show in close proximity to the performers. The Funny Farm is clearly the area's stand-up comedy bargain.

Back Stage Pub - Marcy Hausman

9:00

Schenectady NY

The best part was when she lost her place and emcee Marcy asked the audience "Uhhh... what's my next joke"? As if they'd know. Better yet, when she finally remembered her place, it was the joke about thinking she might have Alzheimer's Disease. Truth imitates fiction....

New Comedians from Kathryn Mora's class and some ex-students like me will show up and perform to celebrate Kathryn as she leaves the area for Film School in Boston.

This will be the FIRST show I've ever done while covered with Poison Ivy welts. Regardless of how it goes, I FEEL funny.

I plan to warm up the audience by telling them my spotted appearance is due to a highly contagious form of SMALLPOX. Oughta loosen 'em up a notch...

Lake George Forum - Jon Hausman

7:30

Lake George NY
Price: 15.00

Performance echoed in a hockey rink; reserved yet enthusiastic crowd. I guess the best part is that we were paid well. Time heals all wounds, and cash aids the healing process.
The performance as it turned out included an EXTRA performance by each comic at the end which no one bothered to tell us about. This was used as the basis for a "Contest" which was "judged" by audience "response".
OK, I HATE contests in general, a trend which started when I was very young and lost my first contest to my older brother, and continued through Grade School where I lost the contest for 'Tallest Jewish Kid In The Class' to some midget mope named Shorty Epstein. Worse yet, we went to school at St. Theresa's, so it was just him and me. Rigged, I tell ya. First off, I have very little faith in Comedy Contests. Especially those where the "winner" is judged by audience response. The "winner" in that situation will ALWAYS be the person who brings the most friends and family members. Since most all of my family is dead or distanced, and I have about 1-1/2 friends who never come ANYWAY, I am always DOOMED in these situations. I am consoled that COMPLETE STRANGERS actually cheered for me - they must have really liked me to vote for me over their friend or relative. If this was you, I thank you sincerely for your support.
Why don't we start judging SPORTING EVENTS this way too? Mike Tyson knocks you out in 2 seconds, but everyone hates him, and you just donated a playground to the community, so.... - PRESTO! YOU'RE THE NEW HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION OF THE WORLD! As soon as you regain consciousness, that is.
Oh wait - we ALREADY judge some Sporting Events this way - we call if 'FIGURE SKATING' I believe.
I don't know what the "right" way to rate comedic talent might be, but this has GOT to be WRONG.
On the bright side, I can still use my joke about having been in a gazillion comedy contests and never having survived even the first ROUND. I need friends BADLY, people!

Jon Hausman - emcee
(Headline act: Rob Reibold)

Saturday's crowd was a little smaller than Friday's, which is very unusual. My theory is that most of the Gloversville area was drunk for Cinco de Mayo and so they could not get their snowmobiles to run through the mud. Actually, it may not have anything to do with CINCO de MAYO, as the majority of Gloversville stays drunk or stoned all year starting on UNO de JANUARYO. Still, another fun show at THE FUNNY FARM.

Funny Farm - Jon Hausman emcee

9:00

Gloversville NY

Jon Hausman - emcee
(Headline act = Rob Reibold)

This was as good a comedy show as I've ever seen. Rob Reibold and Joey Grant were outstanding!

TRUE STORY: Rob was doing a bit about legalizing and taxing marijuana. He tried to work the numbers through the crowd. He asked them "and how many quarter ounces are IN an ounce?". Someone yelled out 'SEVEN'. Rob said "Huh?". So they yelled out "I meant six".

TRUE STORY: Rob was detailing the things that marijuana taxes could pay for. He listed "roads, education, hospitals...". Someone shouted out "Schools". Rob paused and sighed and said "Schools would be part of education, sir.".
